Trip Planning

Air Travel:

We suggest that you book your flights to the international airport of either Johannesburg or Cape Town, with a connection to Bloemfontein. You will be met by one of our team members at Bloemfontein airport and transported to the reserve, a 2½ hour drive.

Best Time to Hunt:

The best hunting is from March to October with high temperatures from 85ºF in March and October and 65ºF in June and July, with night temperatures as low as 20ºF during June and July.

Medical:

The reserve is a malaria free area. A first aid kit is always available and a doctor is available within a radius of 30 km (20 miles) from the reserve with more sophisticated medical facilities available in Bloemfontein 240 km (150 miles) from Philippolis. We recommend that you have travel, medical and personal insurance to safeguard your trip.

This is just a suggested list and provides guidelines to essential items. Each individual must determine his/her own needs: 1 x smart/casual outfit, 1 warm jacket, 1 warm sweater, 2-3 x long hunting pants, 2-3 x long sleeve shirts / polo / t- shirts, 4-5 pairs socks, 4 sets of underwear, worn in hunting boots, comfortable camp shoes, gloves, belt (hunt and everyday travel), cap, light rain gear and light wind jacket.
